Location: Heart of Kotor's Old Town

Tetka Guest House is situated within this atmospheric town, offering guests easy access to the main squares, ancient city walls, and waterfront promenades. Property Features and Services

Though classified as a hostel, Tetka Guest House distinguishes itself with boutique touches and a more intimate setting compared to larger hostels. The property occupies a top floor apartment within an ordinary residential building, lending it a discrete and homely vibe. Guests can expect:

  • Clean and comfortable beds in shared dormitory-style rooms
  • Warm, helpful staff dedicated to making stays pleasant
  • Basic facilities suitable for travelers who prioritize location and affordability
  • Access to local tips and assistance from the host, Nadja, praised for her friendliness and dedication

While the hostel has some limitations — such as a single bathroom and minimal kitchen facilities — these elements reflect its boutique, apartment-style setup rather than a traditional hostel complex. The property is continuously working on improvements to enhance guest experience.

Guest Experiences: A Mixed but Insightful Picture

Reviews of Tetka Guest House reveal a range of experiences, emphasizing the importance of personal expectations when choosing this accommodation.

Many guests have highlighted the property's cleanliness and the friendly nature of the staff. One reviewer shared how they initially had doubts based on negative feedback but were pleasantly surprised by the helpfulness of the team and the comfort of the beds. Another commended Nadja, the host, for going above and beyond to ease guests’ stays, noting great value for money and an excellent location.

However, some travelers reported difficulties with the hostel’s location being hard to find due to lack of signage and communication challenges, which led to feelings of discomfort and confusion. Issues such as late check-in complications and limited facilities have been mentioned, alongside concerns about security during late hours.

These contrasting reviews suggest that while Tetka Guest House offers charm and affordability, it may be best suited for guests who appreciate a more laid-back, modest setting and are comfortable navigating some quirks of a smaller hostel environment.

I have read very bad things about this place and was very unsure when I arrived, but I was very surprised. This hostel is honestly very nice. It’s very clean and people working there are amazing. They were very helpful and friendly. I enjoyed the location and the good beds. Also I didn’t feel unsafe at all.

The worst hostel I have ever visited — and I’ve visited a lot! When I arrived in the middle of the day, the person who was supposed to be at reception was absent. I had to wait for 20 minutes and then left, only to come back later at 9 pm because I couldn’t wait all day. When I finally met her, she started yelling and screaming at me just because I arrived at 9 pm (as I said, she wasn’t there earlier). She also refused to accept card payment, so I had to go change cash. On top of that, she even threatened to refuse me entry to the hostel because I was “late.” After I paid, I asked for a blanket. She told me they don’t have blankets and that “it’s summer, so you don’t need it.” Well, it was cold that night — and they still didn’t have any blankets! The hostel itself is terrible: only one bathroom with a single bath, everything looks awful, and it’s basically just a small apartment with a few rooms that no one takes care of. At night, there’s no one in charge, so literally anyone can walk in. At 3 am, two drunk guys came into the hostel right near my room and started talking very loudly. I had to wake up and ask them to shut up myself because no one was around. I was lucky they left after an hour — but what if they hadn’t? This hostel is overpriced, they don’t even have a proper kitchen, the staff are unfriendly, and no one cares about you. I had to leave early in the morning and barely slept at all. Staying here was a nightmare. I honestly wish the worst for this place, and I hope I never experience such terrible service again. Every other hostel I’ve stayed at has been 10 times better.

Avoid this place, especially as a female traveller! My friend and i turned up, the hostel isn’t well sign posted at all, up some steps. We were asked if our booking was made through hostel world and told that the prices shown on their site weren’t correct and we were expected to pay double the original price because of this. No prior warning and little apology. Staff were unfriendly and unwilling to accept any fault. This was already a stressful experience, we looked for another accommodation while staff were laughing at us - all male, felt like a boys club and wouldn’t feel comfortable staying here anyway.
